Huge Fire Erupts at Titchfield Nursery: Massive Polytunnels Blaze Sparks Explosions and Smoke Plume
Firefighters raced to Solent Nurseries on Funtley Road, Titchfield, after three massive plastic polytunnels ignited just after 8pm tonight. The tunnels, each about 50 metres long, went up in flames, sending thick smoke and a loud explosion ripping through the area.
Emergency Services Swarm Scene
Crews from Fareham and Hightown fire stations battled the inferno with support from a water carrier unit. Hampshire Roads Policing officers were also called in over concerns the smoke might force M27 motorway closures.
Liquefied Propane Cylinder Made Safe
Firefighters acted fast to cool down a liquid propane cylinder on site, preventing a potential disaster. Fortunately, the nursery was closed at the time and no injuries have been reported.
Smoke Snarls and Safety Reassurances
Residents in Titchfield and Whitley reported explosive sounds and thick plumes of smoke. A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the blaze released heavy smoke but was swiftly extinguished thanks to the rapid response of the crews.
