A mum’s gut-wrenching plea after no one showed up to her autistic son’s birthday party has sparked a wave of kindness from around the globe.
Zero Guests Turn Up to Party
Lisa Jackson, 43, shared how her 10-year-old son Ben, who has high-functioning autism, was left devastated when not a single one of the 25 kids she invited to his last birthday turned up.
Despite Ben’s “heart of gold” and longing for friendship, his autism makes socialising tough. He faced bullying and isolation at school, often left out of playtimes and other children’s parties.
Lisa recalled the painful moment: “Ben sat there eagerly waiting… 2pm came and went, and nobody showed. He kept asking, ‘They will come in a minute, won’t they mum?’ By 2.30pm, “He was visibly upset. It was heartbreaking for both of us.”
Birthday Call to Action Goes Viral
This year, Lisa reached out on Facebook asking kind strangers to send Ben birthday cards to brighten his day. Although Facebook deleted her original post, the message had already exploded online.
Thousands from around the world answered, sending cards, presents, and messages. Ben has since received thousands of cards and heartfelt greetings, lifting his spirits ahead of his 11th birthday.

Lisa said, “I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity from people worldwide. We have been getting huge sacks of cards and parcels – it’s truly amazing.”

Ben’s mum hopes the outpouring of love will help heal the long-lasting hurt from his previous birthday. She urged:
