Car thief jailed after twice targeting same vehicle in Havant
Repeat offender caught red-handed
Mark Anthony Young, 45, from Rowlands Castle, has been locked up for 30 weeks after breaking into the same car twice in Havant. His burglary spree began on 23 June when he raided a car park vehicle, stealing luggage with a debit card inside.
Second break-in nets dash cam and more
Not done yet, Young struck again a week later on 30 June. He swiped a dash cam, CD kit, and two first aid kits from the same car. Police stopped and searched him that day, recovering stolen goods from both break-ins, plus bladed weapons and class B drugs.
Quick police work leads to guilty plea
Officers tracked down the car owner, who revealed attempts to use the stolen debit card in Leigh Park shops. Young faced court on 3 July, pleading guilty to:
- Two thefts from a motor vehicle
- Two counts of fraud by misrepresentation
- Possession of two bladed articles in public
- Possession of a class B controlled drug
PC Amanda-Jane Williams said: “A 30-week custodial sentence for Young is a great result for the aggrieved and the community alike, following the quick actions of the attending officers that linked him to the theft from motor vehicle, which had just happened, and other historical offences.”
