Worthing Family Left Homeless After Devastating New Year’s Day Blaze
Five Hurt as Fire Tears Through Family Home at Dawn
Chaos erupted in Worthing just after 4am on New Year’s Day when a fierce fire ripped through a house on Abbingdon Walk.
Sussex Police confirmed five people were rushed to hospital with injuries. Firefighters made a dramatic rescue, pulling a woman in her 50s from the flames and administering first aid before paramedics arrived.
Six fire engines fought the blaze that tore the property apart. Authorities quickly ruled out foul play but continue to investigate the cause of the inferno.
Family Scattered, Left with Nothing but a Tragic Loss
Parents Lynn and Steve, along with their three children, are now separated across hospitals in Bristol, East Grinstead, and Brighton. Steve is constantly travelling between them, supporting their tough recovery.
A GoFundMe has been set up to cover emergency accommodation, clothing, and essentials as the family tries to rebuild their shattered lives.
“They face an unimaginable period of grief alongside the immediate reality of having absolutely nothing left,” said a spokesperson. “The most important thing is helping them get through each day without the extra burden of worrying about money. Every donation, big or small, will be a lifeline.”
Community Rallies to Support Family’s Long Road Ahead
Local residents have praised the heroic emergency crews and are backing the family’s recovery. If you want to help, donate or share the appeal via their GoFundMe page:
