Crash Chaos on A331 Near Farnborough as HGV and BMW Collide
Emergency crews are battling to free trapped victims after a nasty smash between a heavy goods vehicle and a silver BMW 320 Convertible on the A331 near Farnborough. The crash happened just after 6.45pm on Saturday.
Major Roadblock and Rescue Efforts Underway
Firefighters from Surrey and Hampshire raced to the scene, using cutting gear to rescue two people from the wreckage. Twelve police cars and Highways England officers are managing the chaos, putting up screens on the eastbound carriageway.
The A331 is shut southbound towards the M3 Junction and northbound at the Frimley junction. Police warn no U-turns allowed at the roundabout, with the closure expected to last into Sunday morning as investigations continue.
Eyewitness Reports and Ambulance Response
Witnesses gathered on a nearby bridge saw one person being carried away by police. A land ambulance took at least one injured individual from the scene, while an air ambulance was also scrambled to provide urgent medical assistance.
Long tailbacks have formed from Farnborough Gate Retail Park, with drivers urged to avoid joining the A331 at Mytchett to dodge traffic hell.
Police Confirm Arrest Following Collision
In a developing twist, police have arrested a man in connection with the collision. Details about the charges have not yet been released as investigations continue.
Surrey Fire Rescue spokeswoman confirmed the joint Hampshire and Surrey response had freed two persons. The scene remains active as emergency services work through the night.
