Shock in Godalming Cul-de-Sac After Woman Murdered

A quiet street in Farncombe, near Godalming, was rocked by tragedy on the morning of 29 October after a woman was found fatally injured in her bungalow.

Neighbour’s Screams Trigger Emergency Response

At around 9:20am, neighbours at Wey Court heard a woman screaming and quickly alerted emergency services. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene. Surrey and Kent air ambulances even landed on the nearby Godalming Town FC pitch to speed up treatment.

The woman, locally named Mary and believed to be in her seventies, was treated at the property but sadly died at 10:10am.

Man Arrested Amid Murder Probe

A man, thought to be her son and who also sustained injuries, was at the address when police arrived. He was handcuffed and taken to hospital under arrest on suspicion of murder. Neighbours described shock and disbelief:

“It’s all very shocking. She lived here for a long time with a younger man,” said one neighbour who wished to remain anonymous.

Police Investigation Underway

Surrey Police have sealed off the property and are conducting an ongoing investigation.

A force spokesperson said:

“We were called to an address in Wey Court, Farncombe around 9.20am today following reports of a concern for safety. A woman was found with a serious injury and sadly pronounced dead shortly after. A man was also injured, has been arrested, and taken to hospital. We urge anyone with information to come forward quoting reference P17273057.”

The tight-knit community remains stunned as police continue to piece together what happened at the quiet Godalming cul-de-sac.
