Hampshire Paedophile Locked Up for 12 Years After Sex Offences Against Kids
Daren Jones, 48, from Little London, Hampshire, was sentenced to 12 years behind bars today. The paedophile pleaded guilty to 29 sexual offences against children at Winchester Crown Court last month.
Sex Attacks Shock Tadley and Reading
Jones targeted two boys under 13 between 2015 and 2017 in Tadley and Reading. The crimes only surfaced in December 2017 when the victims bravely came forward to the police.
Fugitive Tracked Down and Caught in Brighton
After a major probe, Hampshire Constabulary found Jones hiding in a Brighton hotel on 27th December and arrested him. Remarkably, Jones had fled the US in 2008 while on bail for serious child sex offences and kidnapping two teen boys.
He lived under the false name Simon Jones to avoid detection until cops caught up with him.
Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence
Judge Jane Miller handed Jones 12 years in prison plus five years on licence. He’s also slapped with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
“We hope that today’s sentence provides some form of closure to the victims and their families for what has been an extremely difficult time,” said Detective Constable Sarah Moyce-Phillips of Hampshire’s Child Abuse Investigation Team.
“Our officers worked relentlessly to ensure Jones faced justice. We want others suffering abuse like this to know we take allegations very seriously and urge anyone with concerns to contact police on 101.”
