Isle of Wight Festival Chaos Looms: Red Funnel Issues Vital Travel Warning
Thousands are gearing up to flock to Newport for the Isle of Wight Festival from June 20-25. Red Funnel expects a surge in ferry and road traffic, warning travellers to brace for busy crossings.
Ferry Availability: When You Can and Can’t Travel
Most sailings have good availability, except during key festival days:
- Thursday 21st June: Southampton to East Cowes fully booked from 5:45am to 6pm. Vehicle spots open in the evening.
- Monday 25th June: East Cowes to Southampton fully booked from 4:15am to 10:30pm.
Extra sailings will run to ease demand, with services up to three per hour during peak times. Bookings are first-come, first-served.
Your Guide to Red Funnel’s Festival Timetable
- 20th June: Good availability all day East Cowes and West Cowes routes.
- 21st June: Additional 8:20pm departure from Southampton (returns 9:45pm East Cowes).
- 22nd June: Vehicle spaces available early morning and late afternoon on East Cowes route; West Cowes schedule runs normally with last sailing at 12:45am.
- 23rd June: Good availability East Cowes. Normal timetable West Cowes, last departure at 1:45am.
- 24th June: Good availability East Cowes with extra late-night sailings at 11pm and 12:45am; West Cowes runs normal timetable with late night departure at 12:45am.
- 25th June: Most return sailings from East Cowes are booked out until late evening. Additional 9:45pm departure to Southampton.
