Man Jailed for Sickening String of Child Sex Offences
Linus Rickett, 20, from The Holt, Abingdon, has been locked up for five years after admitting multiple child sexual offences. He was sentenced today (20 March) at Oxford Crown Court.
Shocking Details of the Abuse
Rickett pleaded guilty on 4 March to a horrifying list of crimes involving ten boys aged 9 to 13. His charges include:
- Six counts of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity
- One further count of inciting a boy under 13
- Three counts of voyeurism
- Making indecent images of children: 106 category A, 514 category B and 3,181 category C images
The offences occurred between February 2017 and October 2018. Rickett will also spend three years on an extended licence, be placed on the sex offender register for life, and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Disturbing Tactics Used to Target Victims
“Rickett is clearly a prolific offender, targeting young boys to abuse for his own sexual gratification,” said Detective Inspector Ali Driver from Abingdon police station.
“Rickett committed these crimes by pretending to be a young girl online and by secretly filming boys at urinals. Crimes of this nature will not be tolerated in Thames Valley.”
Police Urge Victims to Come Forward
Detective Inspector Driver urged anyone who thinks they or someone they know could be a victim to get in touch. She added that all such cases will be rigorously pursued through the criminal justice system.
