Man Charged After Pushing Two Police Officers Down Stairs in Tunbridge Wells

A 22-year-old man has been charged after allegedly pushing two police officers down a flight of stairs in Tunbridge Wells.

Drama Unfolds in Early Hours

At around 4.30am on Thursday 28 March 2019, police were called to a flat on St Johns Road over concerns for a woman’s welfare. What started as a welfare check quickly turned violent.

Assault on Police Cops

During a disturbance at the flat, the man reportedly shoved one officer into another, sending both tumbling down a stairwell. The suspect then allegedly launched a barrage of punches and kicks as officers tried to restrain him.

Three Officers Injured

Three officers suffered injuries in the scuffle. The accused, Darbaz Kheder, of St Johns Road, was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He has been bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 7 May.
