Terror Probe Shocker: Luton Couple Snared in Bomb Plot Sting
A Luton man and woman have been hauled in by police after a dramatic vehicle stop turned up terror links. The pair, aged 28 and 25, were nabbed on Wednesday, 3 July, as part of a Met Counter Terrorism Command investigation.
Man Charged with Plotting Terror Acts
Mohiussunnath Chowdhury, 28, was slapped with serious terror charges on Tuesday, 16 July, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. The Luton resident faces:
- Preparation of acts of terrorism (section 5, Terrorism Act 2006)
- Dissemination of terrorist publications (section 2, Terrorism Act 2006)
- Possession of terrorist information (section 58, Terrorism Act 2000)
Woman Charged Over Terror Info Cover-Up
Sneha Chowdhury, 25, also from Luton, was charged with failing to disclose information about terrorist activity. She faces two counts under section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000. Both faced the Old Bailey court today, Monday 29 July.
Court Outcome & Next Steps
Chowdhury, the man, was remanded in custody, while Sneha was re-bailed ahead of the pre-trial hearing on 18 November. A trial is provisionally set to begin on Monday, 6 January 2020.
