Migrant falling from the back a lorry on the M20 in Kent leads to the discovery of more stowaways

Maidstone Kent Wednesday 23rd October 2019. Less than 12 hours after 39 People died in the rear of a lorryn Essex. Eight People have been recovered from the rear of a lorry after one man attempt to get out of the rear and fell into the live carriageway between junction 8 Maidstone and Junction 9 in Ashford on the M20.

Kent Roads Policing closed the carriage way for a short time to  remove those in the rear of the lorry who were then checked by Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance service. Eight people were checked by staff from the ambulance service and have been handed over to the Border Force.

  Kent Police have said: They were  called at 3.40pm on October 23 to reports of people in the back of a lorry on the M20. Officers attended the Londonbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 8 where the lorry was stopped. Nine people are now being checked as a precaution by the South East Coast Ambulance Service before they are passed to Home Office immigration officers. The Londonbound carriageway was closed while officers dealt with the incident and one lane has now been reopened. There are severe delays on the M20 westbound (London-bound) due to an earlier Kent Police led incident between J9 (near Ashford) and J8 (near Maidstone). All lanes are open. Current travel times are an hour and a half above normal for this time of day, and there is over 7.5 miles of slow moving traffic in the area
