High-Speed Crash Shuts Down Bluewater Exit After Midnight Smash-Up
A major exit at Bluewater Shopping Complex near Dartford, Kent, was shut down in the early hours of Sunday after a Silver Vauxhall Vectra careered out of control and slammed into the central barrier.
Speeding Vauxhall Wrecks Road Barrier
Witnesses say the Vauxhall was hurtling around the bend on Bluewater Parkway before it crashed hard into the road furniture, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Massive Emergency Response and Vehicle Recovery
The mangled car became entangled in the safety barrier and required a specialist Hi-ab crane to haul it clear. One onlooker described seeing around 20 emergency vehicles lining the elevated road just minutes after the smash, which happened just before midnight on Saturday, 28 December.
Kent Air Ambulance Scrambles to Scene
The Kent Air Ambulance and the SEC HART team were called out to assist. Police confirmed the driver was rushed to a local hospital with serious but stable injuries. At this stage, it remains unclear how badly hurt the driver is.
Death Rumours Unconfirmed
Claims of a fatality have circulated on social media but police have not confirmed any deaths.
Kent Police said: “Police were called to Bluewater at 11.14pm on Saturday, 28 December following a report of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle. South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.”
“The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious but not life threatening or changing.”
