Ambulance and Lorry Crash Closes M3 Between Junctions 8 and 9

An ambulance and a lorry have collided on the M3 northbound between junction 8 Winnall and junction 9 Popham, causing major delays. Thankfully, neither driver was seriously hurt.

Ambulance Not on Emergency Call

The ambulance wasn’t responding to an emergency. It was being driven by a South Central Ambulance Service fleet maintenance team member at the time of the crash.

Minor Injuries but Hospital Checks Underway

Both the ambulance driver and the lorry driver suffered minor injuries. They are being taken to hospital for assessment. Emergency services, including Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Hampshire Constabulary, and Highways England, rushed to the scene.

“A collision occurred shortly after 11:00 between a lorry and one of our ambulances,” said South Central Ambulance Service. “Thank you to all staff and emergency colleagues for their swift response.”

Avoid the Area – Long Delays Reported

Delays on the M3 remain heavy. Drivers are urged to avoid the stretch between junctions 8 and 9 until the scene is cleared.
