Woman Gets Suspended Sentence After Careless Deadly Crash in Cricklewood
Nazila Sanei, 51, from Cumbrian Gardens NW2, escaped jail with a suspended sentence for causing death by careless driving. At Harrow Crown Court on 27 February, she was handed 28 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for two years.
Fatal Collision on Claremont Road
On the morning of 11 March 2019, around 8:30am, Sanei turned right across the path of a motorcycle on Claremont Road, Cricklewood. The bike, ridden by Dr Amin Alamshah, 38, from Finchley, crashed into her vehicle.
Dr Alamshah was pronounced dead at the scene. He left behind a grieving wife and two young children.
Tributes Pour In for Acclaimed Doctor and Loving Father
“Many words can and have been used to describe Amin. A passionate colleague, an award-winning doctor with a brilliant career, a proud loving father, a loving devoted husband – but nothing can express the emptiness and pain his loss has left for my daughters and me,” said his widow in a heartfelt court statement.
Dr Alamshah originally hailed from Iran and moved to the UK for his studies, graduating in 2006. He made his mark at Guy’s Hospital specialising in breast cancer research. In 2010, he earned ‘Scientist of the Year’ at the House of Lords.
At his death, he was working at the Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at Hammersmith Hospital.
Investigation and Police Comments
Detective Sergeant Matt Smith from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, who led the inquiry, said: “This is a tragic incident where a highly respected and talented doctor has lost his life. My deepest sympathy goes to Dr Alamshah’s family who have lost a devoted husband and father.”
