Woman Attacked in Shocking Daylight Robbery Attempt in Southampton
Police are hunting a thug who attacked a woman trying to snatch her handbag in broad daylight. The 32-year-old victim was walking along Tremona Road near Bursledon House Children’s Hospital at about 2.30pm on Thursday, October 20, when the shock assault unfolded.
Man Pulls Woman to Ground in Bold Grab
The suspect approached the woman from behind, yanked her to the ground, and tried to snatch her handbag. The victim suffered injuries to her head and body in the struggle, but thankfully no items were stolen.
Good Samaritan Scares Off Attacker
A passer-by came to the woman’s rescue, forcing the attacker to flee. He ran down the footpath between the Wordsworth 1 NHS building and the Ronald McDonald charity building.
Police Release Description, Appeal for Witnesses
- Man aged 25-40
- Mixed ethnicity
- About 6ft 2in tall, average build
- Wearing blue jeans and dark hoodie with hood up
Detective Constable Rob Munro urged: “This happened in broad daylight in a busy public spot. If you saw anything suspicious or witnessed the attack, please come forward.”
