Terrifying Mugging in Portsmouth: Woman Dragged to Ground in Broad Daylight
A woman was violently mugged in Portsmouth last night in a chilling street robbery that left her injured.
Shocking Attack on Gresham Street
The incident took place around 9.40pm on Thursday in Somerstown’s Gresham Street. A man, disguised in a khaki long coat with his hood up and his face covered by a scarf, suddenly grabbed the woman. He forced her to the ground and dragged her along the pavement, leaving her with grazed hands.
Thief Makes Off with Purse
After the brutal assault, the attacker fled across Gresham Street and over the nearby railway bridge, running off with the woman’s purse. The stolen wallet is described as black leather with a zip around the middle and tassels dangling from it. Inside were ID cards, bank cards, £30 in cash, and some Chinese currency.
Police Launch Hunt for Armed Robber
Detective Constable Katie 1 urged anyone with information to come forward. “We want to hear from anyone who saw this man in the city centre before the mugging or spotted him escaping afterwards. If anyone found any items dropped from the victim’s wallet, please contact us immediately.”
