The assault happened at a property on Shearer Road, believed to be connected to the sex trade. Police have raided the address five times since the incident, carrying out thorough searches.
The teenage victim, who lived at the property, is now under police protection at a secret location. Authorities have also reached out to sex workers through charities and support groups, offering crucial safety advice.
£5,000 Reward Launched as Police Appeal for Help
A Hampshire Police spokesman said: “Police investigating a serious assault on a 17-year-old in Shearer Road, Portsmouth, on Monday, April 11, have made an arrest. A 28-year-old man from Portsmouth is in custody.”
Detectives went public with an appeal at the Portsmouth vs Wycombe Wanderers football match last Saturday, urging witnesses to come forward. A £5,000 reward is now on offer for information leading to further arrests.
