Grandfather Dies in Tragic Easter Sunday Crash in Clacton

Norman Austin, 84, Killed in Road Collision

Tributes have poured in for Norman Austin, 84, after he tragically died following a collision near Jaywick Lane in Clacton on Easter Sunday, 11 April. Known affectionately as Norm, the St Osyth grandfather’s family say the loss has left them devastated.

Family Mourns Lifelong Adventurer and RAF Veteran

Norman is survived by his wife Elizabeth, known as Liz, who he’d known since his teens, his four children Neil, Dawn, Mark, and Kirk, plus stepchildren Frances and Adrian. His only surviving sibling, Joan, lives in Australia. The couple regularly travelled abroad, with Norman always eager for his next adventure, packing weeks in advance despite his 84 years.

“The circumstances in which he was taken from us has completely devastated our family and friends,” the family said.

Norman was proud of his service in the Royal Air Force Regiment and cherished his role laying the wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the local British Legion. His close RAF friends remember him fondly.

The family has thanked the police for their support and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Norm’s family and friends as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
