£140k Agricultural Sat Nav Heist Sparks Crime Hunt
Thieves have made off with a whopping £140,000 worth of specialist agricultural sat nav systems from a farm near Bognor Regis. Twelve high-tech NAV 900 GPS units, each valued at up to £12,000, were stolen overnight from tractors parked at Sefter Farm on Pagham Road.
Raid Strikes Between Midnight and 4am
The raid happened between midnight and 4am on Thursday, August 13. These customised GPS units, designed for farming use, are hot items on the black market, fetching anywhere from half to nearly full retail value.
Suspected Organised Crime Gang Behind Theft
Sussex Police’s rural crime team suspects an organised crime group is behind the theft, given the scale and precision of the operation. They’re also probing links to other similar raids around the UK.
“We believe the farm was likely scouted in the days before the theft,” said a police spokesperson. “We urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between Wednesday evening and Thursday dawn to come forward — no detail is too small.”
