Thief Busted After Wild Car Chase and Wallet Swipe
Terrence Winter was arrested after a daring daylight crime spree in Pulborough on Sunday, 23 February.
Wallet Stolen, Car Rammed in Bold Attempted Getaway
Winter snatched a wallet from one car and then tried to steal another. When a neighbour gave chase, Winter used the stolen vehicle to ram their car, escalating the chaos.
After being confronted, he bolted on foot, but the police quickly got involved.
Sharp-Nosed Police Dog Sniffs Out Hiding Thief
A specialist police dog handler unleashed PD Goose, a six-year-old German Shepherd, to track Winter down. The pooch led officers to an outbuilding in Tudor Close, where Winter was found squashed under cushions.
Criminal Record Holds Winter Back—Jail and Driving Ban Follow
- Winter, 47, from Bognor Regis, has a history of burglary and theft.
- He was charged with theft by finding, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence.
Winter pleaded guilty to all charges. On Friday 21 August, Lewes Crown Court sentenced him to eight months in prison.
He was also banned from driving for 31 months and ordered to pay £149 in court costs.
