Two Held After Dover Town Centre Robbery

Two men have been charged following a robbery in Dover’s busy Cannon Street.

Victim Hospitalised After Brutal Attack

Kent Police were called shortly before 12.30am on Thursday, 24 September 2020, after a man was assaulted by a group of men and had his wallet stolen.

The victim suffered a facial injury and was taken to a local hospital. He has since been discharged.

Suspects Charged with Robbery and Fraud

Following an investigation by Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad, Harry Lugg, 22, from Stembrook Court, Dover, and Lewis McCartney, 18, from Rochester Street, Chatham, were charged.

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of fraud – related to using a stolen bank card at a petrol station on the same day

The pair appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 1 and 2 October and were remanded in custody. They are set to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, 2 November 2020.
