Motorbike Rider Dies After Horror Crash on Burnley Road

A 41-year-old motorbike rider from Accrington has tragically died following a serious collision with a white Vauxhall Combo van on Burnley Road.

Crash Details: Rider Suffers Fatal Injuries

The smash happened around 11:15am on November 4. The rider, on a Yamaha motorbike, suffered a bleed on the brain, fractured ribs, and internal injuries. He was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly passed away on November 11.

The van’s driver, a 61-year-old man from Rishton, escaped unharmed.

Van Driver Flees Scene, Later Arrested

Shockingly, the van driver fled before police arrived. He was later arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after an accident but has since been released under investigation.

Police Plea for Witnesses

Burnley Road was shut for over five hours while officers examined the scene. Sgt Chris Evans of Tactical Operations said:

“These are very sad and tragic circumstances and our thoughts are with the rider’s family at this time. We are continuing to investigate and urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.”
