Tragic Loss: Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to 12-Year-Old Corey Lee Caton
The family of 12-year-old Corey Lee Caton, who died in a horrific road traffic collision on Saturday 7 November on the B417 near Pangbourne, have shared a moving tribute to their beloved boy.
A Bright Life Cut Tragically Short
Corey’s dad described him as a “kind-hearted, funny, intelligent” child taken from them far too soon. The family and friends remain “shocked and devastated,” struggling to come to terms with their loss.
“Corey had a growing creative side, loved maths, and had a sharp, witty humour. He was passionate about rock and rap music, enjoyed social PlayStation gaming, and his warm, fun-loving nature earned him a wide circle of friends both inside and outside school.”
Adventurer and All-Rounder
Despite his young age, Corey had already experienced incredible adventures. He’d skied across France and Italy, parasailed in Egypt, zip-lined, toured Australia and Asia, camped out, attended music festivals, motored, played bass guitar, and was a keen swimmer – earning him the nickname “fish.”
Tall, handsome, and athletic, he earned a brown belt in Judo. Yet, he had a charming vulnerable side – he was completely ticklish, which always ended play fights in laughter.
“Corey also loved card games, often beating his grandparents at ‘silly head,’ much to his delight.”
A Father’s Heartbreak and Hope
With a “broken heart” and “a tight anxious chest,” Corey’s dad mourns a “huge future lost.” But even in tragedy, Corey’s generosity shines through.
“In line with his beautiful character, Corey donated his organs in the hope that from this catastrophic event something positive can come.”
Corey was not just a son but a best ‘little buddy’ – a bright spark gone too soon, but never forgotten.
