Bletchley Burglar Locked Up After Nighttime Raids
A scruffy burglar has been jailed for over two and a half years after a string of break-ins in Bletchley. Barry Stevens, 47, homeless and on the run, pleaded guilty to three counts of business burglary and criminal damage at Aylesbury Crown Court last Wednesday (9 December).
Midnight Burglar Strikes Twice in One Week
Stevens targeted two separate businesses on Queensway, Milton Keynes, smashing windows and stealing electronics between late July and August. His crime spree kicked off on 18 July when he sneaked into a business and made off with various electrical goods.
- 8 August: Damaged a shop window
- 9 August: Stole a computer monitor
- 11 August: Returned to snatch more electrical items
All raids happened between 11pm and 2am, causing chaos for the business owners.
Police Slam Burglar’s Disruptive Spree
PC David Smith from Bletchley police said: “Stevens caused serious disruption and financial loss for two local businesses. Burglary of businesses creates great distress beyond the cost, affecting day-to-day operations.”
Police arrested Stevens on 12 August, and he was charged the next day. Now, he faces 31 months behind bars for his actions.
PC Smith added: “We’ll keep hunting down offenders and bringing them to justice.”
