Blaze Breaks Out in Shoreditch Flat

Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce fire in a Shoreditch flat on Swanfield Street last night.

Half the Ground Floor Flat Damaged

The blaze gutted half of the ground floor flat, but luckily a man inside escaped uninjured before firefighters arrived. Around 25 residents quickly self-evacuated the building.

Fire Under Control Within the Hour

The Brigade was called at 9:10pm. Crews from Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Shadwell, and Whitechapel stations worked fast to get the blaze under control by 10:09pm.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown

Authorities are investigating what sparked the flames.
