Fatal Stabbing and Multiple Attacks Spark Fear Across South London

Police are hunting suspects after a series of violent stabbings rocked south London on Friday night, 5 February. Authorities insist these attacks are isolated incidents but say the spate still has locals on edge.

Deadly Attack in Croydon Under Homicide Probe

A man was fatally stabbed on Wisbeach Road, Croydon, around 8.10pm. Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. No arrests have been made.

Four More Stab Victims Treated Across South London

  • 6.58pm, Chapman Road, Croydon: A man suffered a stab wound at a home and was rushed to hospital. His condition is stable. Police are examining the scene but no arrests so far.
  • 7.15pm, Penwortham Road, SW16: Four men in their 20s checked into a south London hospital with stab injuries after a fight. None are in life-threatening condition, and police say no suspects are in custody.
  • 8.51pm, Jay Gardens, Chislehurst: Two men in their 30s arrived at hospital with stab wounds from a separate incident. Their injuries are not life-threatening, and no arrests have been made.
  • 9.12pm, Dingwall Road, Croydon: A man in his 40s was found stabbed at a house. He is in hospital but stable. Police arrested him on suspicion of affray. A 38-year-old man was also held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and remains in custody.

Police Promise Crackdown as Fear Mounts

“While work continues to investigate these four incidents, I can confirm they are isolated,” said Gold Commander Ade Adelekan. “But this spate of violence is shocking, and I understand residents are rightly concerned.”

Extra officers were deployed immediately and remain on duty throughout the weekend. Adelekan urged the public to approach officers with concerns or call 101.

“Violence has no place on our streets,” he added. “We will work tirelessly to find and arrest those responsible.”
