Police Left Fuming as Government Snubs Covid Vaccine Priority
Met Police Federation Slams Decision
Ken Marsh, chairman of the Met Police Federation, has blasted the Government for failing to give police officers priority access to the Covid-19 vaccine. “You are asking officers to do something no one else does – they have to physically touch people unprotected, often in close contact on the streets,” Marsh said. He struggled to put into words how deeply let down police across the country feel.
‘Sick of Empty Promises’
“We are sick of empty platitudes,” Marsh declared, expressing frustration with the Government’s approach. Cops risk their health every day, but the lack of vaccine priority sends a blunt message about how little they are valued.
Matt Hancock Takes the Blame
Marsh didn’t hold back, saying the vaccine snub is “a slap in the face, courtesy of Matt Hancock.” He slammed the Health Secretary, stating, “That shows you exactly how this Government feels about police officers. They simply don’t hold us in high enough esteem to treat us as we deserve.”
