Baby’s Nappy Change Horror: Dad’s ‘Click’ Revealed Serious Injury
Kieron Platten sparked alarm when he told police he heard a “clicking” sound while changing his baby’s nappy in the early hours of 18 August 2017 at a home on Owston Road, Annesley.
Doctors Shocked as True Injury Uncovered
Medical staff initially couldn’t pinpoint the cause of the baby’s injury. But after an urgent specialist exam and X-rays, it was clear: a significant fracture had been inflicted. Experts ruled out a simple nappy change as the cause.
Platten Gets Suspended Jail for Grievous Bodily Harm
The offender from The Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was arrested and charged. He pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent. Nottingham Crown Court handed him a six-month prison sentence – suspended for two years.
Police: Force Was Used—Justice Served
“It was concluded that force must have been used to inflict this child’s injury,” said Detective Constable Simon Hary of Nottinghamshire Police.
“I am pleased that he has now been sentenced and I wish the child well for the future. We all have a part to play in protecting the most vulnerable members of society, and police and our partner agencies will do everything possible to bring to justice those who harm children.”
