Man Assaulted in Brutal Tottenham Attack – Police Want to Trace Suspect
Detectives are hunting a man linked to a savage November 2019 attack in Tottenham. They’ve released a CCTV image to track him down as part of the ongoing probe.
Three Sentenced Over Vicious Assault
- Che Allen-Gulley, 24, from Baronet Road, N17, was slammed with nine years for causing grievous bodily harm at Wood Green Crown Court on 27 October 2020.
- Jermaine Chisholm, 35, no fixed address, copped seven and a half years after pleading guilty on 20 October 2020.
- A 17-year-old boy also pleaded guilty and got a two-year young offenders’ sentence, suspended for two years.
All three men were formally sentenced on 19 March at Wood Green Crown Court.
How the Attack Unfolded
At 1.25am on 25 November 2019, police were called to Tottenham High Road following reports of a violent assault. Officers found a 53-year-old man seriously injured, with trauma to his head and body. He was rushed to hospital but continues to suffer from his injuries.
The victim was cycling along Tottenham High Road when he clashed with a group at the Cedar Road junction. Surrounded, he endured a relentless beating — including kicks and blows with a metal bar.
The attack finally ended when a passing ambulance crew spotted the violence and alerted police. The attackers fled the scene.
Police Appeal for Public Help
North Area CID detectives sifted through CCTV and mobile footage to identify three suspects, but the hunt continues for others involved.
Detective Constable Simon Phillips said: “This was a sustained and ferocious assault by a group of males against a lone victim. I hope this sentence offers the victim some comfort and allows him to move on with his life.”
“We are pleased to have secured this conviction and hope the sentences will serve as a deterrent and demonstrate that we will continue to take robust action against any person intending to inflict harm or use such violence on the streets of London.”
“The investigation is not over. I urge anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image to come forward.”
The victim also expressed his gratitude: “I am so grateful to the ambulance service and paramedics who stopped to assist me. I genuinely believe that the attack would have continued if it was not for their intervention and I would not be alive today.”
