Reece Narayan Jailed for Attacking Emergency Workers in Harrow

Reece Narayan, 22, from Bessborough Road, Harrow, has been slammed with a seven-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to violently attacking emergency service workers. The sentence was handed down at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 22 March.

Violent Assault on Police After False 999 Call

Narayan dialled 999 on 20 March 2020, claiming welfare concerns at Harrow on the Hill Station. But when officers and medics arrived, he promptly bolted from the scene. Police found him moments later by the station entrance and moved to arrest him for misusing the 999 emergency system – Narayan is a known frequent caller.

Things quickly turned violent. When officers tried to cuff him, Narayan resisted fiercely:

  • Headbutted an officer
  • Screamed and kicked violently
  • Bit one officer and elbowed another during the struggle

One officer even suffered a cut finger during the scuffle.

Aggressive Behaviour Continues in Custody and Hospital

Once in custody, Narayan admitted to taking pills in a suicide attempt and was rushed to hospital. But his aggression didn’t ease—he continued to shout and scream at officers while receiving treatment.

Police Chief Issues Warning to Offenders

“Narayan is a known abuser of the 999 system and has previously assaulted officers. Yet police responded with the intention to help. Instead, he abused, threatened and assaulted them, causing injury,” said Inspector Sammi Elfituri from the Met’s North West Command Unit.

“This sentencing makes clear we do not tolerate abuse of our officers. Violence has consequences.”
