Two Convicted Over Fatal Woolwich Stabbing
Mason Bridle, 18, from Lewisham, was found guilty of murder. Mario Gruda, 23, of Eltham, was convicted of manslaughter. Both men denied the charges but were convicted after a trial at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, 30 March. Sentencing is set for Friday, 30 April.
Brutal Attack on Cameron Ends in Tragedy
On 15 March 2020, police were called to Academy Road at the junction with Shooters Hill, Woolwich, after reports of a stabbing. Cameron was knocked off his bike by a car driven by Gruda. Mason Bridle, a passenger in the car, then got out and stabbed Cameron multiple times.
The attackers sped off, leaving Cameron fighting for his life. Passers-by rushed to help until officers and paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed he died from a stab wound to the thigh.
Police Praise Public and Seek Justice
“I wish to thank those members of the public who came to Cameron’s aid following the brutal attack on him and those who later assisted what was an incredibly difficult investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard.
“I also want to recognise the quiet dignity with which Cameron’s family have conducted themselves throughout the trial. I hope today’s verdicts offer them some closure while removing two dangerous criminals from the streets.”
“Reducing violent crime across London remains the Met’s top priority. We work tirelessly to take weapons off the street, engage with the public, and keep communities safe.”
