Gillingham Abuser Locked Up for Brutal Attacks on Ex-Partner
Brutal Assaults and Shocking Abuse
Lewis Sutton, 29, from The Vineries, Gillingham, has been jailed for two years and four months after a string of violent attacks on his former partner. The court heard how Sutton repeatedly assaulted the woman, headbutting her, slapping and punching her until her face was badly injured.
Control and Intimidation Tactics
Sutton’s abuse wasn’t just physical. He forced the victim to delete her social media and smashed her phones when she refused. On one occasion, at a Gillingham pub in March 2019, he threw beer over her, hurled a glass, pushed her to the ground, yanked her hair, and tried to strangle her.
Justice Served
Thankfully, a bystander stepped in to stop the attack, and the victim managed to escape. Sutton was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, two counts of actual bodily harm, and three charges of criminal damage.

I want to commend the victim for her bravery. She made sure Sutton got the sentence he deserved and stopped him hurting anyone else.”
