Digger theft foiled on Kent street after quick police action

Thieves caught red-handed loading stolen digger

At around 8.30pm on Monday 1 July 2024, Kent Police received a tip-off that suspects were hauling a digger onto a van in Cobham Terrace.

A patrolling officer swiftly responded and tracked down two men matching the description on Denton Road, Dartford. The pair were seen securing the digger on the roadside.

Van found stolen – suspects arrested

The officer spoke to the men and ran a vehicle check. It turned out the van had been reported stolen in London back in March.

Both local men, aged 38 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of theft linked to the digger and the van.

Bail granted as investigation continues

The 38-year-old was released on bail until Friday 27 September. The 44-year-old bust was freed on bail until Sunday 29 September, pending further inquiries.
