Young Thug Jailed After Robbing Off-Duty Cop in Broad Daylight
Bartlomiej Zielnski, 18, from Enfield, has been jailed at Wood Green Court for a shocking daylight robbery of a serving police officer. The victim, a response constable for the Central South Command Unit, was targeted while heading to work at Edmonton Green Bus Station on 10 January 2020.
Cop Threatened with Hammer and Robbed of Uniform
Zielnski and another unidentified youth approached the officer, offering him drugs. When the officer identified himself and tried to stop them, the other thug brandished a hammer, threatening him. The pair then snatched the officer’s suitcase containing his uniform and fled the scene.
Slipped Up During Later Arrest – Helmet Found at Home
Five days after the robbery, Zielnski was arrested for an unrelated offence. A search of his home under Section 18 of PACE uncovered the stolen police helmet. He was subsequently identified in an ID parade and charged with robbery.
Detective Praises Officer’s Courage Amid Violent Threat
“A police officer is never off duty,” said Detective Constable Daniel Trodden, the investigating officer. “When approached by two males and offered drugs, this officer answered his duty, only to be threatened and robbed. Despite this, he suffered no injuries and carried on to work to protect Londoners.”
“Zielnski might have thought he got away with it, but now he’s facing a long stretch behind bars to reflect on his crimes.”
