Man Shot Dead After Armed Bank Incident in Kensington
Drama unfolded in West London last Saturday afternoon. At 3:04pm on 11 December, police were alerted to a man armed with a firearm entering a bank and a bookmakers on Marloes Road, W8.
The man quickly jumped into a vehicle and fled the scene. Just 15 minutes later, armed officers stopped a car at the junction of 1 Road and Palace Gate, SW7.
Shots Fired During Police Stop
During the stop, shots rang out. The suspect was hit by gunfire and sustained serious wounds. Emergency teams, including the London Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene. Despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at 4:08pm.
Investigation Underway as Police ID Man and Notify Family
Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the man and to inform his next of kin. The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has launched a review, and the incident is now with the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
