Doctor Killed in Shocking London Cycling Crash
Police were called to a horror crash at 8.54am on Wednesday, 4 August, at the busy junction of Theobalds Road and Southampton Row. A cyclist collided with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), leaving a woman with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but tragically, the woman was pronounced dead there and then.
Victim Named as Dr Marta Krawiec
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Dr Marta Krawiec, who worked at a clinic in Clapham. Her family has been informed of the devastating news.
In a heartfelt statement, Marta’s parents said: “Marta lived helping other people every day. She died on the way to her patients. We are devastated by the loss of our beloved daughter and sister. We thank all the witnesses who are helping people in their investigation.”
Lorry Driver Cooperating as Police Investigate
The lorry driver involved stayed at the scene and is assisting police. No arrests have been made and inquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan appealed for witnesses: “Were you driving through the area between 08:50hrs and 09:00hrs? Did you witness the incident or might you have captured dash cam footage? A woman has sadly died and it is vital we speak to you. No piece of information is insignificant.”
