Migrant Found Dead After Jet-Ski Tragedy in English Channel

Body Found Near Jet-Ski in Dungeness

RNLI and Border Force officials discovered the body of a young man floating close to a jet-ski near Dungeness. The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was likely thrown from the machine after it was slammed by a wave.

He either drowned or succumbed to freezing waters in the perilous crossing. The jet-ski was later towed ashore. A source revealed, “We presume the jet-ski was stolen, so he didn’t realise there wasn’t enough fuel to reach Dover.

Channel Crossings Reach Record High

Dover is in crisis as border staff from across the UK flood in to manage the surge of migrants making dangerous Channel crossings. Thursday saw a staggering 1,185 people arrive by small boats—a new single-day record amid the ongoing migrant crisis.

So far this year, over 23,500 migrants have braved the Channel in small vessels, with numbers spiking dramatically over the past two weeks, reigniting diplomatic tensions with France.

Tensions Spike Over Border Crisis

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin blamed Britain’s “lucrative” market for encouraging migrants to attempt the perilous crossing. Meanwhile, the UK government is pushing for emergency talks between the Home Secretary and her French counterpart.

A government spokesman said, “We are providing funding to the French to increase surveillance and police presence. Clearly, more needs to be done.”
