Three Arrested After Attempted Child Abduction at Tesco
Chaos erupted at Tesco’s Brookfield Centre store in Cheshunt at 7pm on 2nd December after three suspects were spotted acting suspiciously near a mother and her young son.
Police quickly locked down all store exits while officers launched a hunt for the trio. Thankfully, neither the mother nor her child was harmed during the scare.
Shoppers Praise Quick-Thinking Staff
A witness described the terrifying moment: “Thank God the mum was right there and the staff acted quickly, locking the doors while the ar*****es ran through the store before being caught! Feel sick thinking about what could have happened. Keep your babies close – two seconds could have made all the difference to this poor little boy’s life.”
Police Confirm Arrests and Investigation Underway
A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson revealed: “Three people have been arrested following an incident at the Tesco store in the Brookfield Centre at around 7pm on Thursday 2 December.
- Two men, aged 32 and 34, and a 27-year-old woman were detained suspected of attempted child abduction.
- They were seen acting suspiciously around the mother and her son but did not approach them.
- Police closed the store exits for about five minutes while tracking down the suspects.
“We thank all shoppers for their patience. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information should call 101 quoting ISR number 623 of 2nd December.”
Tesco Supports Police Inquiry
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We are assisting police with their enquiries following the incident at our Cheshunt Extra store yesterday evening.”
