Babysitter Stanley Elliott Found Guilty of Brutal Double Murder
Stanley Elliott, of Vidlers Farm, Kiln Road, Sherborne St John, has been found guilty of stabbing a couple to death inside their home. The vile attack happened while Elliott was trusted to babysit their toddler.
Couple Murdered After Returning Home from Reading
The victims, Geoffrey Hibbert, 61, and Michelle Caroline Hibbert, 29, were found dead by police just before 2am on Sunday, 20 June. The horror unfolded after the couple returned from a trip to Reading.
- Mrs Hibbert made a desperate 999 call moments before Elliott killed her, naming him in her final seconds.
- Their toddler was left alone and unharmed inside the house after the attack.
Jury Delivers Guilty Verdict
The jury convicted Elliott of murdering Mr Hibbert by a majority of 10 to 2 and Mrs Hibbert by a majority of 11 to 1. The sentence was confirmed by Mr Justice Garnham, who told Elliott he would face life imprisonment with a minimum term to be set.
Sentencing is scheduled for 31 March at the same court.
