Met PCSO Caught Intimidating Witness in Harassment Case
A serving Met Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) has been found guilty of intimidating a witness. PCSO Mohammed Zaman, from the West Area Command Unit, was convicted on Friday, 4 March at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
Serious Breach of Trust Shocks Met Police
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, who oversees policing in Ealing, Hillingdon, and Hounslow, blasted the misconduct:
“This is an extremely serious offence and one which undermines the trust and confidence people have in our organisation. There is no room for anyone in the Met who thinks this kind of behaviour is acceptable. We will always investigate those who do not meet the very high standards we expect and make sure they are brought to account.”
Intimidation on Off-Duty Night
The incident happened on 24 March 2021. Off duty, PCSO Zaman approached a woman who was a harassment victim at the time. He allegedly used threatening language, telling her he and his friends knew where she lived.
The woman reported the intimidation immediately, triggering an investigation by the West Area Command Unit. Zaman was arrested the very next day and charged on 15 April 2021. He was suspended from duty pending the outcome.
Sentencing and Misconduct Ahead
PCSO Zaman will be sentenced at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 8 April. Following the criminal case, internal misconduct proceedings will begin without delay.
This case sends a stark message: no police officer or support staff are above the law or the Met’s rigorous standards.
