Community Champion Gurvinder Sandher Scoops Prestigious Invicta Award
Gurvinder Sandher has been honoured with the Invicta Award for his outstanding efforts to boost community relations in Kent. The accolade was presented by Kent County Council (KCC) Chairman Lesley Game at the full County Council meeting on Thursday, 10 March 2022.
Council Praise for Tireless Community Work
Mike Hill, KCC’s Cabinet Member for Community and Regulatory Services, heaped praise on Mr Sandher during the ceremony at County Hall. “Gurvinder has made an amazing contribution for many years to community relations and racial harmony in Kent,” Hill said.
“He is an enormous force for good in the county and a great friend to this Council. I am pleased and proud to support his nomination for the Invicta Award.”
Champion of Cultural Diversity and Policing
- Long-time organiser of diverse arts events across North and West Kent – from maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Mela to St George’s Day festivities.
- Former Chair of the Kent Police Independent Advisory Group for eight years.
- Currently Vice-Chairman of the Kent Police and Crime Panel.
Mr Sandher is heavily involved in tackling tough issues like forced marriages, honour-based violence, domestic abuse, and mental health stigma through community events and campaigns.

With over 20 years in the voluntary sector, Sandher sits on strategic boards that focus on Equality and Diversity, Faith, Mental Health, Migration, Community Cohesion, and policing matters affecting young people.
