M25 Cobham Services Murder Victim Quhey Saunders Saves Life with Heart Donation
Tragic Death, Heroic Gift
Quhey Saunders, the 20-year-old who was brutally attacked with a shovel at Cobham Services on the M25, continues to make headlines—this time for a heroic act after his death. Despite dying from his injuries at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, Quhey saved a young man’s life by donating his heart.
The attack happened around 3.15pm on Monday, June 26. Airlifted to hospital, Quhey succumbed to his injuries two days later on Wednesday.
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In
Quhey’s brother Luke shared a moving tribute on Facebook, revealing the heroism behind Quhey’s final act. He wrote: “R Quhey My baby brother you stole the show again, centre of attention as always. He’s donated his heart to a young man that had no more than a couple of days to live and desperately needed a heart transplant. You got one last flight brother and went out in style. Your legacy will live forever, my king. A legend never dies.”
Luke also posted images of the air ambulance taking off from Cobham Services, with supporters shouting messages of love and respect into the sky.
Quhey’s girlfriend, Larosa Smith, broke down in a heartfelt Facebook post: “RIP my baby, I have no words to describe how I feel right now. I thought you had broken my heart before, but this is what a broken heart really feels like. I don’t know how I’m gonna live without you.”
She added: “I know you’ll always be by my side, watching over me. You put up a good fight and I’m so proud of you. I love you more than anything in this world. My Q, I love you my angel.”
Police Hunt Witnesses and Suspects
Surrey Police have launched a full murder investigation. Detectives believe the horrific attack took place in front of Quhey’s parents.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Jo Hayes urged witnesses to come forward: “This was a horrifying attack at a busy petrol station on the M25. I’m sure some saw what happened but haven’t yet spoken to us. We are pursuing all avenues to bring those responsible to justice.”
She specifically appealed to anyone who refuelled or shopped at Cobham Services between 3pm and 3.30pm on June 26 to get in touch.
Police are especially keen to trace a man caught on CCTV in military or camouflage clothing who could hold crucial information.
Reports also mention people filming the attack on mobile phones. Investigators want to secure all footage. Drivers with dashcams on the forecourt during the incident are asked to come forward.
The hunt continues for a white Peugeot Partner van seen around the scene. It was later found abandoned in Chessington on Wednesday.
