Police Dog Kaiser Stabbed But Still Tackled Intruder in Dramatic Orpington Incident
Police dog Kaiser showed incredible guts on 30 May 2021 during a night patrol with his handler, PC Mark Woolcott. The duo were called to a report of an intruder lurking in a garden on Luxted Road, Orpington.
Brave Kaiser Attacked but Held His Ground
Joining other officers, Kaiser and PC Woolcott searched the area and found a man hiding down a track behind the house. As Kaiser moved to subdue the suspect, the dog was stabbed up to five times on the head and once below his eye.
Despite the brutal attack, Kaiser held tight, giving officers enough time to arrest the intruder. His fierce loyalty and bravery prevented potentially life-threatening injuries to PC Woolcott and others nearby.
Fighting Spirit Recognised at Crufts
Kaiser was rushed to the vets and has thankfully made a strong recovery with no lasting damage. Inspector Kristian Leighton of the Met’s Taskforce, including the Dog Support Unit, praised Kaiser’s heroism.
“We’re extremely proud that Kaiser’s bravery has been recognised by the NPCC at Crufts. It was a fantastic moment and one we will always remember,” said Inspector Leighton.
“Kaiser’s courage is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers and animals face daily. We remain dedicated to protecting the public and keeping London safe.”
