Blaze Breaks Out in Ilford Block of Flats

A fire ripped through part of a four-room flat on the first floor of a residential block in Ilford. One woman managed to escape before the fire brigade arrived.

Quick-Thinking Firefighters Rescue Two

Emergency 999 operators guided residents in a second-floor flat on safety steps as flames spread. Firefighters, decked out in breathing gear, rescued a man and woman via the internal staircase. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Rapid Response Brings Fire Under Control

  • Fire under control by 6.18pm
  • Four fire engines and 25 firefighters attended from Ilford, Millwall, Leyton, and Plaistow stations

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police.
