Missing Man Found Dead: Family Pleads for Answers
Huw Williams, 25, vanished from his Sherwood, Nottingham home on 6 May 2021. He disappeared without his mobile phone or any belongings.
After a nationwide search came up empty, grim news arrived on 2 January 2022. Huw’s remains were discovered by the River Severn near Tidenham, Gloucestershire.
Family Issues Heartfelt Appeal One Year On
Marking a year since his disappearance, Huw’s family has reached out to the public in Gloucestershire, South Wales, and Avon and Somerset. They’re desperate for anyone who saw him before his death to come forward.
Huw’s dad, Steve Williams, said:
“Nothing we can do can bring our beloved son back to us, but we at least hope to make sense of what happened to him – to understand when, where and how he died.”
“We have so many questions that remain unanswered and hope that somebody – a passing motorist or perhaps somebody who served him in a shop – will read this appeal and get in touch with police.”
“Even the smallest bit of information could make a huge difference to our understanding of what happened.”
What Huw Looked Like and What He Was Wearing
- Height: 6ft 2ins, slim build
- Hair: Bushy brown with a full beard
- Distinctive tattoos: A fish and a black & white skull on his arms
- Last seen in a chequered shirt, dark blue trousers, and trainers with reflective silver stripes
- May have been wearing a green waterproof jacket
Police Ask for Witnesses to Step Forward
Nottinghamshire Police want to speak to any drivers who saw Huw near the Severn or Prince of Wales bridges, or anyone who gave him a lift during 2021.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull said:
“We understand the very significant toll this case has taken on Huw’s family. To lose a son in any circumstances is unimaginable. But losing a son without knowing what happened must be even more painful.”
“Ahead of the inquest into Huw’s death, we are making one final public appeal in the hope that somebody out there can help us piece together what happened to him.”
“We stress that we are not treating Huw’s death as suspicious and anyone with information should not be concerned about coming forward.”
