Tragic Teen Stabbed to Death Outside Pendeford Fish Bar
Just 16 years old, Zane was fatally stabbed in the chest on Friday afternoon (27 May) in Pendeford. The bright young lad lost his life in a brutal knife attack that has left the local community reeling.
Family Breaks Silence: ‘Our World Has Stopped’
Zane’s family spoke out, heartbroken and devastated by the senseless killing. They said:
“Words cannot describe the unbearable loss we feel as Zane’s family. He was a brother, a son, a grandson, a nephew who was loved deeply. The world keeps turning but for us it has stopped still, we are held in a nightmare from the moment he lost his life to yet more knife crime.”
“We want him to be remembered as the funny, loving boy he truly was, with an infectious dimpled smile that lit up any room. Zane, you are the kindest soul, and we love you deeply. We will never stop loving you and being in your corner, our boy.”
“As a family we urge anyone who saw or heard anything, or has Snapchats or videos, to please send them anonymously to the police. Your help now could protect others and bring justice to our boy.”
Police Hunt Witnesses and Crucial Snapchat Video
Zane was with a group outside The Haymarket’s Pendeford Fish Bar at around 3.40pm when the fatal attack happened. Police need to speak to everyone present to piece together what went down.
A video of the stabbing surfaced on Snapchat, and detectives say it’s vital for their investigation. Anyone with footage or info is urged to come forward immediately.
Murder Charge Made; Woman Released
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with Zane’s murder and is due in Wolverhampton magistrates court on 31 May. Meanwhile, a 46-year-old woman arrested for assisting an offender has been released pending further inquiries.
Police searches around the scene and nearby canal are complete, and cordons lifted. Officers continue to support Zane’s devastated family through this horrific ordeal.
