Two Men Convicted Of Cannabis Cultivation In Rotherham Have Been Sentenced To Prison

Mirjan Petku, 25, and Rexhep Petku, 22, both of no fixed address, appeared in Sheffield Crown Court for sentencing after being found guilty of manufacturing a Class B controlled substance.
Officers executed a warrant on a property on Woodhouse Green on March 23, this year, as part of a crackdown on cannabis cultivation in Rotherham. Officers discovered two rooms on the property used for cannabis cultivation, as well as more than 60 plants.
The plants had reached a mature stage of development, and a new nursery of seedlings had been established. Each room contained cannabis cultivation equipment such as transformers, fans, and lighting.
We are continuing to gather intelligence and execute warrants at a rapid pace as the crackdown on cannabis cultivation and the associated crimes continues in Rotherham,” said Temporary Sergeant Matt Smith.
Cannabis cultivation has been linked to crimes such as modern slavery and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and cannabis profits are used to fund organised crime in our communities.
We are stronger when we collaborate with our communities, and we continue to request your assistance in identifying properties that may be used for drug production.”
