Two Men Jailed After Massive Cannabis Farm Busted in Rotherham
Mirjan Petku, 25, and Rexhep Petku, 22, both with no fixed address, have been slammed with prison sentences after police uncovered a huge cannabis operation in Sheffield.
Police Raid Uncovers Cannabis Haven
On March 23, officers swooped on a property at Woodhouse Green amid a crackdown on cannabis farms in Rotherham. Inside, they found two rooms stacked with mature cannabis plants and a new nursery of seedlings—over 60 plants in total.
The rooms were kitted out with everything needed to cultivate the drug: transformers, fans, and specialist lighting equipment.
Crackdown on Cannabis Cultivation and Crime
“We’re moving fast to shut down cannabis farms and the crime that comes with them,” said Temporary Sergeant Matt Smith. “Cannabis cultivation is often tied to modern slavery, exploitation, and gangs funding organised crime.”
He urged locals to report suspicious activity, stressing community efforts are key to tackling the problem.

Jail Sentences and Fines Handed Down
- Mirjan Petku was locked up for two years and ten months on June 1, also ordered to pay £190 in restitution after release.
- Rexhep Petku received a two-year sentence and must pay £156 in restitution.
Rotherham police vow to keep cracking down on drug-growing rings to make streets safer and hit crime at its root.
