Maths Teacher Stabbed Breaking Up School Fight in Gloucestershire
A brave maths teacher was stabbed by a teenage boy while breaking up a fight at Tewkesbury School this morning. Jamie Sansom, from Newport in Wales, was heroically protecting a pupil when he was knifed in the corridor, sparking a massive police response including armed officers.
Teacher Stable After Knife Attack
Witnesses hailed Sansom a hero for stepping in to stop the violence. He was rushed to Gloucester Royal Hospital and is now in stable condition. Parents described Sansom as a “wonderful teacher” with outstanding results since he began teaching maths in Gloucestershire in 2017.
Suspect Arrested on Attempted Murder Charge
The teenage attacker fled but was caught nearby in Stoke Orchard by armed police. He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a knife was recovered as evidence. The school was immediately placed on lockdown, with nearby Tirlebrook Primary School and its nursery also locked down as a precaution.
